In 1900 the legacy of Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers began in the heart of Chennai. Well known for their quality, design and innovation in the jewellery space they justify this reputation by intricately crafting every piece to bring out its true emotion with the purest of materials and finest craftsmanship.
For decades, the Vummidi name has been a benchmark for purity and trust; it is our promise of quality and distinction. Our homage to jewellery has remained undeterred and we have been blessed with undying patronage.
The Vummidi seal houses four distinct pillars:
In 1947, Lord Mountbatten initiated the transfer of power to India and asked Pandit Nehru to find an appropriate symbol of regalia and sovereignty to mark this transition. The Sceptre was chosen and the project was personally entrusted to Vummidi Bangaru because of his expertise and integrity. The family takes great pride in influencing the very essence of our nation.
The business is being carried forward by fourth-generation siblings - Jithendra and Amarendran (both qualified gemologists from Belgium) - under the guidance of their father, Raghunath Vummidi. Shyamala Raghunath also often helps customers select appropriate pieces of jewellery for special occasions.
From a small stall in Gudiyattam, near Vellore with just one jewellery box to a reputed establishment in Chennai under his own name, Vummidi Bangaru Chetty’s business acumen was way ahead of his time in 1900. He took the Vummidi name from strength to strength by eventually opening showrooms all across the city.
A major source of heritage in South India is the temple. The sacred institution signifies divinity and serves as a cultural code for art, design and architecture. Jewellery is intrinsically linked to the Gods, adorned as a celebration of beauty
By conducting business with the highest integrity and empowering customers at every step of the process, we strive to shift existing associations of beauty from pedigree to character. Every special occasion deserves to be treasured and remembered forever.
The Kamadhenu is a symbol of prosperity and sacredness. The wish fulfilling holy cow and bestower of good fortune has become synonymous with the our brand identity and patrons have grown to imbibe and expect the goodwill that the strong symbol imparts.
The subtle nuances in our identity stem from Southern elegance. The Vimana (stepped pyramids) is a symbol of authenticity and democratic sophistication while the Ashtasra (octagonal sanctums) encapsulates the sacredness of wisdom, authority and stature.
